ART OF THE COCKTAIL

AN EVENING OF SPIRITS, ART AND FRIED CHICKEN AT CHERRYHURST HOUSE
Thursday, October 16, 2014 / 6:30-9 PM

Julep owner Alba Huerta and the soon-to-open Chicken Ranch's Joshua Martinez teamed up for “Art of the Cocktail at Cherryhurst House,” an evening devoted to blending cocktails, food and art into an immersive experience, on Thursday, October 16th.

Limited to an intimate group of 20, participants had the opportunity to create three different cocktails under Huerta’s instruction that she chose specifically for the location, including a special Cherryhurst Cobbler. Huerta took inspiration from the surrounding art and architecture at Cherryhurst House when creating the menu. Keeping with the theme of Huerta’s love for southern-inspired classics, Martinez treated guests to his signature fried chicken and sides from The Chicken Ranch, his newest project with partner Paul Sedillo.

Guests were one of the first inside Cherryhurst House, a spectacularly restored 1920’s bungalow on Cherryhurst St. in Montrose that is slated to host regular exhibitions, artist collaborations, salon dinners and special events designed to encourage dialogue about contemporary art and culture.

The current exhibition CAMERA ERA, from Cherryhurst House artists-in-residence Project B, is a collection of vintage vernacular photography, recast into large-format archival pigment prints.
